Programs & Services Community Reintegration: Assists individuals, ages 18 to 59 and living in nursing homes, to move back into the community and live independently. Deaf Services: Assists the Deaf and Hard of Hearing with independent living issues by providing advocacy, interpreting, interpreter training, and assistive devices. Family Advocacy: Provides supports and services to parents of students with disabilities. Services include transition, preparation for IEPs, and support groups. Home Services: Empowers consumers who want to recruit and manage their own Personal Assistants (PA). Home Services also provides a referral list of available PA's and an orientation for any individual interested in working as a PA. Independent Living: Assists consumers through referrals to community services, in locating accessible housing and achieving independent living skills. Sail's Homeownership Coalition for People with Disabilities Program assists in identifying barriers in homeownership and strives to eliminate them. The Adult Assistive Technology Lab offers over 120 devices to aid adults in acquiring/maintaining daily living skills such as dressing, cooking, eating, mobility and communication. The Children's Assistive Technology Lab has more than 55 games, books and learning materials. All are displayed in a colorful, interactive and child- friendly enviornment. The Visual Services Lab offers an equipment lab with over 160 pieces of adaptive equipment for the blind/ visually impaired. SAIL staff can provide catalogs and pricing information to those consumers wishing to make a purchase. Visual Services: Provides assistance and support to individuals 55 and over experiencing vision loss or blindness. Along with in-home assessments to eliminate barriers in accomplishing daily tasks, SAIL recieves funding to assist in the purchasing of low vision eye examinations and recommended devices.
